Concept

With the aim of lower flight costs and a large range of possible drive combinations a completely new model was developed which was based on the innovative and durable design of the Joker 2. The fundamental design concept was for bullet proof mechanics with long life as well as an extremely low noise level. The unconventional layout of the carbon frames results in a significant increase in stiffness, also giving greater battery and radio protection. The mini-joker, like its bigger brothers, has a very wide range of use that covers the spectrum from a high stability beginers model, to pilots that like to do a lot of flying and thus require industrial quality mechanics, to lovers of the art of CNC machined mechanics, to 3D pilots looking for new challenges exploring the outer limits of the flight envelope which are made possible by the extremely powerfull drive systems that are available for this model. With a little carefull maintenance the mechanics have a life of many hundreds of flight hours whilst the number of service parts has been kept to a minimum and it is by this means that the long term use of the mini-joker is made very
cost effective. You will find that the most commonly crash damaged parts are made from
aluminium. Carbon fibre parts such as the tail boom and landing gear are available as an option.

Drive

Brushless-motor with 5mm-shaft, recommendations: Köhler actro 24-3, Kontronik Tango 45-07/8/10, Plettenberg Orbit 25-12, 30-12

two stage gear with quiet belt drive in the first stage and spiral toothed gear in the second stage. Gear reductions from 8.75 to 11.7:1 (stock=10:1) depending on motor , number of cells, rotor diameter and specific use

Adjustable motor mount for easy adjustment of drive belt tension.

Can be assembled to give either lefthand or righthand rotor direction.

The autorotation clutch is in the second gear stage, to give a driven tailrotor in autorotation,
stationairy tailrotor during AR is possible by changing some parts (optional).

tailrotor drive direct from the main shaft, giving a quiet and low-friction transmission. Tailrotor transmission: 4.89:1.

Extremely precise, very quiet running main gear, fully enclosed by the canopy.

Tailrotor drive using quiet toothed belt and double ball-raced belt guide rollers.

Additional guide roller on the tailrotor to prevent the belt from jumping.

Tracking shims on the taildrive wheel for additional belt drive security.

Fully ballraced with easy to change flanged bearings throughout,

The mainshaft bearings are widely spaced to give maximum transmission of torque from the drive shaft into the system

The upper frame is designed to take standard size servos.

Tail-rotor

one piece CNC housing

low weight

easy to service

fully ball raced

double bell-cranked tail rotor linkage with separate arm ("scissors linkage"), uses 4 ball races

tailslider with steel joints

alternatively right of left side mounting

CF-side fin

CF-elevator fin

Aluminium blade grips with pmw (propellor momentum weights) - for reduced servo load

two radial bearings and one thrust bearing in each grip

rigid hub with 5 mm arms

Frame

extremely stiff 2 mm carbon frame highly resistant to both bending and twisting.

all spacers with weight reduction cut-outs.

By using spacers the lower battery mounting frame can be enlarged/adjusted to fit both current and future battery types.

Full aluminium landing gear with stainless steel clamps.

battery fixing with tie-wraps.

central positioning of receiver in the lower frame for short and simple cabling from servos/gyro/esc

All essential mechanical parts are mounted in the upper frame, so for special use like camera-ships the lower frame can be removed.

Battery carrier with a minimum of holes in a sandwich design for maximum battery protection, 66 mm wide, 44 mm high, the height can be simply enlarged with spacers.

Gyro and tailrotor mounting in the upper frame.

Flying

For beginners and weekend flyers

For intensive fliers

For 3D-pilots

For camera use (super low vibration level)
